Preparation
Treatex Douglas Fir Protection will only work on unfinished timber. Previous finishes must be fully removed prior to application. Ensure the timber is dry and free from possible contaminates e.g. algae, grease, dirt, dust etc. Timbers susceptible to decay, mould and fungi should be treated first with a suitable preservative. We advise that when using Treatex Douglas Fir Protection, sufficient product is purchased to complete the whole project and when more than one tin is required it is advisable to mix them together before use. Timber must have a moisture content below 18%. Temperature must be greater than 8OC during application and drying. We strongly recommend a trial application prior to starting the project.
Application of Treatex Douglas Fir Protection
Do not apply in damp, humid conditions. Stir container thoroughly, before and during use. Use a brush to evenly apply Treatex Douglas Fir Protection in the same direction as the wood grain, allowing approximately 125ml per m2. Pay particular attention to end grain, on end grain apply wet on wet until product is no longer absorbed by the timber. After approximately 3-6 hours the first coat can be overcoated. The second coat must be applied within 24 hours. Apply with a brush a second coat of Treatex Douglas Fir Protection, again allowing roughly 125ml per m2. After the second coat it will take up to 24 hours for the product to fully dry.
